MICS 2016 Important Dates

  • December 1st, 2015: Registration, Housing, & Abstract Submission Open
  • February 11th, 2016: Abstract Submission Closes at Midnight EST
  • March 16th, 2016: Late Breaking Abstract Submission Opens
  • April 15th, 2016: Late Breaking Abstract Submission Closes at Midnight EST
  • May 13th, 2016: Advance Registration and Registration Cancellation Deadline
  • July 27-30th, 2016: MICS 2016, Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto, Canada

Instructions:

  1. Abstract Fee

    There is a $30 non-refundable submission fee per abstract. Please note: Only the presenting author should submit abstracts.
  2. Abstract Placement

    The MICS Abstract Review Committee has sole discretion regarding placement of abstracts within the MICS program. All accepted abstracts will be displayed in poster format during the evening poster receptions. Abstracts will also be considered for oral and ePoster presentation format. Please indicate your preference for presentation format during online submission process. Please note that there is limited availability for oral and ePoster placement. Placement will be based a variety of factors including overall abstract score, scientific content, demographic information as well as other factors considered relevant by the Abstract Review Committee.
  3. Abstract Presentations

    Presenting authors must be prepared to present the submitted abstracts at MICS 2016 should their abstracts be accepted for the meeting. Posters will not be allowed without accompanying presenters.
  4. Abstract Publication

    Abstracts accepted for presentation whose authors are properly registered by April 15, 2016 will be included in the electronic abstract supplement.
  5. Changes and Withdrawals

    Please review your submission carefully. No revisions, including author revisions and/or new data will be accepted after the deadline. Withdrawals of abstracts must be received in writing before April 15, 2016.
  6. Deadline

    The deadline for submitting abstracts is February 11, 2016.
  7. Disclosure

    The presenting author on every abstract MUST submit a completed disclosure prior to February 11, 2016 or the abstract may be withdrawn from consideration. This policy has been established to ensure any potential conflicts of interest are identified and disclosed to the audience in advance of the meeting.
  8. Eligibility

    SMI members as well as non-members are eligible to submit abstracts.
  9. Graphics/Charts

    Graphic elements, such as charts, pictures, etc. may be included in abstract submission.
  10. Abstract Placement Notification

    Notification regarding abstract placement within the program will be made to the contact author only via email by April 15, 2016. This email will contain the title, date and time of the oral or poster session in which the abstract has been programmed. Co-authors will not receive notification.
  11. Registration Policy

    Abstract submitters whose work is accepted for poster presentations at MICS 2016 must register to attend the meeting by April 15, 2016. Those who do not register will be considered withdrawals and will not be included in the scientific program.
  12. Review Process

    Abstracts will be peer-reviewed according to the categories provided. Authors must choose one subject area for each abstract submitted. Please indicate the subject area during online submission.
  13. Travel Awards

    The Young Investigator Award provides support for young scientists in the field of mucosal immunology who wish to attend MICS 2016. Up to 40 travel awards, ranging from $500-$1,000 will be given to young investigators with the highest scoring abstracts who meet the criteria below.

    Young Investigators who wish to receive this travel award must:

    • Be current members of SMI.
    • Be under the age of 40 with the rank of Assistant Professor or below.
    • Submit a short statement detailing why you wish to attend MICS 2016.
    • Submit a letter of reference on organization/institution letterhead, from one of the following indicating your involvement in the field of mucosal immunology, your need for financial support and your professional status and age.
      • Dean
      • Department Chair
      • Division Chief
      • Advisor or Supervisor

    When selecting recipients of the award, the following factors will be considered:

    • Applicant's stated reason for wishing to attend MICS 2016
    • Applicant's country of residence
    • Applicant's financial situation
    • Applicant's letter of reference
